The Hermitage collection shows the development of art and material culture in the West and the East from prehistoric times to the present day. There are remarkable collections of paintings, prints, sculptures as well as tapestries, carpets, objects d`art, archeological finds, furniture and unique articles of jewellery. St.Isaac's Cathedral Standing on the broad Isaac`s Square, its golden dome can be seen all over the city. On a clear day, the observation platform at the foot of the dome commands a fine view over St. Petersburg and its surroundings. Day 3 State Russian Museum The Russian Museum is a treasure-house of national culture. The museum`s collection of Russian art is next in importance to that of the Tretyakov Gallery. Our Saviour on the Blood One of the loveliest beauty spots located in the heart of St. Petersburg is the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, built in the old Russian style with, unusual for the city, onion-shaped domes. Day 4 Peterhof Peterhof is located at the seaside, some 29 kilometres from the centre of St. Petersburg. It is known throughout the world as a jewel of Russian art, a place of parks, palaces and fountains. The palace houses collections of Russian and European paintings, sculpture, furniture, and porcelain and crystal ware. In the past it was an exquisite summer residence for Russian tsars. Day 5 Yusupov Palace Visitors immersed in the cozy and homelike atmosphere of the palace are enchanted by the perfect harmony of its interiors and a breathtaking collection of objects d`art. Day 6 Pavlovsk The Great Palace stands on a high bluff overlooking the river and dominates the surrounding parkland. The landscape park, one of the largest in Europe, covers an area of 600 hectares.
