For two centuries, St. Petersburg was the capital of Russia. To chronicle fully the majesty of this city would fill countless pages. The world-famous Hermitage Museum, St. Isaac`s Cathedral - second-largest basilica in the world - and the Peter and Paul Fortress, resting place of the last Russian tsar, Nicolas II, are only three of the main architectural marvels to be seen and admired. In the summertime, notably during the long White Nights, stroll the parks and gardens, adorned with statues and fountains.

Yekaterinburg in the Middle Urals is one of Russia's principal industrial centres, founded in 1723. It stands today a beautiful city, with more than 600 historical and cultural monuments. Many fine museums, too, of fine arts and antural studies, architecture and industrial machinery, geology, stone-cutting and jewellery.
