Yesterday an exhibition by the name “Chanel. L’Art comme Univers” opened in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. The curator of the exhibition Jean-Louis Froman intended to show not only the history of creative work of Gabrielle Chanel and her fashion house, but also her inner life and all the sources of her inspiration. A large international team of employees, experts and curators of the House of Chanel worked at organization of this fantastic exposition. The great artist in the field of fashion, theater and cinema used to create all her easy and austere works relying on cultural achievements of different countries, including Russia. The exhibition consists of five sections – Black, Red, Sands, Venice and Tweed. In addition to original Chanel’s models the exhibition embraces photographs, paintings of Pablo Picasso, Renoir, Gainsborough, Andy Warhol, statuettes, personal things of the famous Frenchwoman and even a bottle of Chanel ¹5 perfume put out in 1920. Perfumes spread their fragrance all over the exhibition halls to complete the entourage; walls are draped with historical fabrics. Stairs, which the founder of the Fashion House of Chanel liked so much, are covered with sand-colored carpets that resemble beaches in Biarritz where Coco started her rise. According to Russian couturier Vyacheslav Zaitsev, the main achievement of great Chanel was to create the image of an emancipated woman of the 20th century, an elegant style that became a symbol of the time. The exhibition will take place till November 21, and guests of the Golden Ring Hotel will also be able to visit it.
