A tourist’s village appeared not far from the Yuryev monastery by Velikiy Novgorod. The first turn of the «Yuryevskoe podvorye» village is situated opposite the museum of wooden architecture and comprises a hotel for 16 two-room suites of different categories, 2 restaurants for 20 and 30 persons, a skating rink and a spotlit skiing route. A traditional Russian bath-house, a tea house and several terraced cottages for families are on the waiting list. The project work on the second turn construction will be already started in spring 2008, with the whole village being completed in 2009, by the anniversary of Velikiy Novgorod.
The project of the «Yuryevskoe podvorye» tourist’s village belongs to the hotel and restaurant operating company «Novturinvest», the oldest tour operating company in Velikiy Novgorod. The company manages 2 hotels and 3 restaurants in the capital of the region, as well as a hotel in Staraya Russa. «Novturinvest» have invested about 60 million rubles in the first turn construction of the tourist’s complex.
The monastery of Saint George the Victory-winner (Yuryev) was founded in 1030 by Yaroslav the Wise. The George cathedral is a burial-vault of the Novgorod dukes – such historical figures as mother and brother of Alexander Nevskiy, as well as duke Dmitriy Shemyaka, were buried here.
