WAM Books publishing house issued a book called «Moscow metro. Travel guide» that contains descriptions of 47 the most historically and artistically important stations of the Moscow metro. This guidebook is a shortened version of the fundamental edition «Moscow metro» which was published last year and contained the most complete selection of photos of historical stations. Some of these photos were used in this guide, and thanks to the convenient format it can be used for making an interesting journey. The book offers five routes; one of them, according to the authors, includes the best metro stations: «Kropotkinskaya», «Ploshad Revolutsii», «Teatralnaya» and «Mayakovskaya». Other routes are devoted to the ring line, red line, green line and blue line of the Moscow metro.
An article narrating the history, design and decorative elements of the station and mentioning some legends and superstitions related to it was written about every metro station. It would be interesting to read about unknown facts, for example the fact that stained glasses for «Novoslobodskaya» station had been brought from Riga and had originally meant for Roman-Catholic churches. The Novotel Moscow Center hotel is located within five minutes of walking distance from this metro station.
While Moscow itself has changed beyond recognition during the last years, the Moscow metropolitan remains the same as tens of years ago. So much the better a journey through the Moscow underground would be for foreigners and Russians. The Moscow metro travel guide was published in two languages, English and Russian.
