Today, on July 8 Russian people are celebrating the Day of Love, Family and Faithfulness – the Orthodox analogue of the Saint Valentine’s Day. On this occasion, the city administration has made a present to all the citizens and guests of the capital – the opportunity to visit concerts and the Zoo for free. The holiday itself counts just a couple of years and has not been given the official status yet has already been celebrated on a large scale. Today, there are over 20 grounds in Moscow offering festive programs. Thus, the Tsaritsyno estate invites the guests for a pop concert and a firework, the Kolomenskoe museum & estate – for chime and Russian romance concerts, as well as for the demonstration of the traditional Russian wedding ceremony, while the Zoo (by the Krasnopresnenskaya metro station and not far from the Moscow-City business centre and the Na Krasnoy Presne hotel) welcomes everyone for a special program called «Love – the Reward of Soul». All the grounds are free and are open late into the night. Entertainment programs, games, competitions and shows are available in the Kuzminki estate, at the sight ground of Vorobyovi Gory (Sparrow Hills), at Poklonnaya Gora and other locations of the city as well. In the Orthodox tradition, July 8 is traditionally celebrated as the holiday of the Saint Pyotr (Peter) and Saint Fevroniya who reigned in Murom in the 13th century. The life of the spouses who devotedly loved each other and passed away on one and the same day and at the same hour became the pattern of true truthfulness and devotion, whilst the saints themselves are honoured as the patrons of marriage and family.
