One of the leading hotel brands of Spain – the Hesperia Hotels chain – has lately announced its new ambitious plans – the building of the first Hesperia hotel in Russia. The luxurious hotel will be located in Saint Petersburg. The project has become the fruit of collaboration of Hesperia Hotels with the large Russian holding GC-Development Group.
The five-star Hesperia hotel is expected to be opened in 2010. The hotel complex will comprise a sumptuous hotel for 300 guest rooms and suites, a conference centre (including a hall for 500 people and 23 business rooms). The total area of these facilities will total 41 000 square metres. Apart from that, the infrastructure of the complex will also comprise office premises (28 000 sq.m.), a recreation complex (35 000 sq.m.), a water park, a parking lot (60 000 sq.m.) and a helicopter ground.
The international contest for the honour to implement the architectural project of the hotel featured such participants as Estudio Lamela (Madrid) and RTKL (London). However, the honour was given to Willy Mueller Architects and BPG Arquitectes.
The Hesperia Hotels company counts more than 30-year working experience in the travel market of Spain and has turned into the leading hotel chain of the country over this period, with representations in all the major cities of the country. In 2002, to further globalize themselves, the company began its expansion onto the international market with the opening of the four-star Hesperia Grand Palace in Brussels. It was followed by the appearance of the hotels in Andorra, London and in Isla Margarita (Venezuela). Now the company disposes 46 hotels in different countries of the world.
