Saint Petersburg is being now decorated for the coming New Year’s Day. More than 40 New Year’s trees 14 to 20 meter in height have already adorned the city, and as many ones are to be placed in squares of St Petersburg. 72 artificial trees in all will decorate the city, and one 25-meter forest tree will crown the ensemble. It will occupy an honorable place in Dvortsovaya Square, where it will be delivered from Leningradskaya region using a helicopter.
The New Year’s tree that was chosen weighs more than three tons, and span of its lower branches amounts to ten meters, so the only way to keep it intact during transportation is to ferry it. The honored test pilot of Russia Vadim Basykin has already given his consent to this complicated operation. If the weather is fine, this event will take place on November 27. The New Year’s tree will be mounted at night. Illuminated and abundantly decorated with LED garlands, luminous ornaments (bells, snowflakes, crystals, candles and rhombuses), it will certainly be splendidly beautiful.
All New Year’s decoration works in Saint Petersburg are to be completed by December 10. That very day festive lighting will be switched on, and all inhabitants of the city and guests of its hotels will become aware of the most enchanting holiday of the year approaching.
