An exhibition of works of Dennis Hopper, a famous American actor, director, photographer and artist, opened today at the Manezh Exhibition Hall. A part of these works arrived in Moscow from the Hermitage where they have been exhibited before; another part is delivered from Los Angeles. His 150 photographs taken since 1961 to our time and also his cinematographic works, including Easy Rider, a movie made in 1969 that made him famous, will be showed there. Dennis Hopper is a very important and outstanding figure in the history of the American pop art. His evolution as an artist was consonant to changes of the world around him, and he had an influence on this world himself. One could say that his photographs are cinematographic in essence, they reproduce the incredibly creative atmosphere that prevailed in the United States in the middle of the last century, an epoch of such celebrities as Andy Warhol, Irving Blum, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Bruce Conner and Edward Rush. Dennis Hopper is a master of light, color and composition, every his photo is imbued with intrigue, tension and energy. The charismatic artist believes that the main purpose of his creative work is to show the reality as it is. He has never left his camera at home for more than 45 years and still remains recognized in every his work on paper or on the screen.
