The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts has undergone a large-scale reorganization and rebrending. Yesterday the new up-dated exposition of the contemporary art halls was unveiled in front of the public. Henceforth we are supposed to try comprehending the beauty of Art in a new entourage. Thus, the Flemish and Dutch paintings «got» individual halls and the French exposition was complemented by 30 paintings from the vaults. Dozens of art works have «come home» from the restoration workshops, some of them never demonstrated to public before (for instance, «Golgotha» by Lucas Cranach and «Madonna with Saints» by Tiepolo). Separate section has been created for the antique monuments; «personal cabinets» have also been provided for the Byzantine icons and the Renaissance paintings. Thorough changes have spread even upon the trim of the museum interior – the Italian hall has been decorated in red shades, whereas the French one – in grey and blue. On the whole, the space now seems to be brighter and more spacious. The unique exhibits have «received» exclusive highlight. The nameboards now contain lines in both Russian and English. The inauguration of the new permanent exposition have been accompanied by the modernization of the very image of the Pushkin Museum, with new promotional posters issued and special guide booklets and signature badges created. The actual renewal of the exposition has been the most comprehensive one since 1912, when the first art exposition was opened. It might be high time now to familiarize yourself with the results of the Museum’s image renovation, especially if you are a guest to the «Kebur Palace» Hotel located not far from the Pushkin Museum and the Kropotkinskaya metro station.
