Now tourists have a chance to visit an unusual object of interest in the Russian capital. Stalin`s study, a big conference hall with unique acoustics, and an underground restaurant are available expositions. The underground shelter was constructed for the Soviet leader straight before the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The sizes of the underground construction make it unique – the total area of the shelter is 135 thousand square metres. A 17-kilometre long tunnel linked the underground shelter with the Kremlin. Stalin visited the shelter in 1941 to examine a ready command post and a test car trip through the underground tunnel. The Soviet leader also worked there during the hardest days of the war, in the end of November – the beginning of December 1941. The shelter obtained its second life in the late 90`s when it was renovated and made ready for public. Now it is a branch of the Central Museum of Armed Forces.
