While the issue about building the Gazprom City's skyscraper (impending to mar the city's scenery) has not been decided yet, other gigantic constructions are about to appear in St. Petersburg. Buildings 130-135 meters high will probably be erected near Ladozhsky railroad terminal. The architect Nikita Yavein, who had projected the terminal's building, comes out with the idea of building five pyramidal skyscrapers. The storeys of the pyramids are supposed to be used for offices, trading centres, restaurants and so on. Seven apartment houses will have to be demolished for the purpose of constructing the pyramids. Experts have recognized the project as unique; however, only two of the five pyramids have been approved. Nikita Yavein asserts that the pyramids will not spoil the overall style of the city, as they will be seen only from Sverdlovskaya Embankment and Tuchkov Bridge.
