The Head of Moscow Metro Dmitry Gaev reports that at the moment a new system for making the temperature in Metro 4 degrees lower is being tested in some of the stations. According to Dmitry Gaev, stuffy air and heat in Metro is a consequence of the crowding effect. If some time ago Moscow Metro was used by 5-6 million people a day, now this number has increased up to 9 million people, and the existent engineering systems cannot provide the needed level of comfort. Introducing new anti-heat systems into mass usage can be expected only in several years. In September 2006 the Head of Moscow Metro marked that "Muscovites will perspire and choke for 5 more years". The norms of ventilation Metro of the Russian capital are amongst the toughest ones in the world – it is a triple air exchange, becoming fivefold in rush hours. http://www.russia-ic.com/news/category/1/
