Today the underground of the Russian capital presents the new 174th station under the name “Sretensky Boulevard”. The station is located on the Lublinskaya line and will facilitate the southeastern part of the metro, especially the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line that has been working at the breaking point for many years. The original feature of the station is absence of its own exit to the city. You may go out into the street if you change to the Turgenevskaya station of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line or to the Chistye Prudy station of the Sokolnicheskaya line. The Ulanskaya hotel is situated near these stations. The Sretensky Boulevard station will play its main role – redistribution of passenger traffic flow – in full. The station lies at a depth of sixty meters below the historical quarters of the city center. Images of the Boulevard Ring in the form of steel applique works decorate the station. These relief works fit harmoniously in semicircular bays near each pylon of the station. Its interiors resemble inside decoration of the Tsvetnoy Boulevard station. Light marble on the walls and pylons, gray and black granite on the floor create an elegant impression. The next station to open in the Moscow metro will be the Strogino in one of dormitory suburbs of the capital. It will happen at Christmas, on January 7.
