All this week from December 8 till 16 a fair of arts under the name “Art of the 20th century” will take place at the Central House of Artists in Moscow. It demonstrates different styles of the Russian art of the previous century – social realism (official Soviet art), so-called “severe style”, work of painters from Soviet republics, objectless art, constructivism, avant-gardism, recusant art. Among multiple works of art there are canvases and sculptures, posters and graphics, photographs and chinaware.
The special project of the fair “Combine of art” will gather works of the twenties-thirties from the museums of Ivanovo, Tver, Yaroslavl that are not offered for sale. Several subject expositions will closely introduce visitors to such schools as social realism, recusant art, romantic realism, labor as a matter of painting. The fair will place individual emphasis on Boris Chernyshev, a monumentalist (1906-1969), and Nikolay Mamontov, who was a member of the first avant-garde association in Siberia “Three of Hearts” in the twenties.
The Art of the 20th Century Fair was established three years ago. Here you can both admire works of Soviet artists and purchase them. The same building houses the Antiquarian Christmas Fair and the Christmas Fair of Gifts. It will be very convenient for the guests of the President Hotel, which is located within several minutes of walking distance from the Central House of Artists.
