The British chain of three-star hotels under the Premier Inn brand is planning to start developing the Russian hotel market in the near future. The new hotel will be built by the British group Whitbread PLC in collaboration with the Russian developer company Makromir. According to the preliminary assessment, $250 mln will be invested into the project. The precise geography of the chain’s development has not been fixed yet. Nevertheless, Premier Inn hotels are certain to appear in the largest Russian cities, first of all, in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Perm. It became known that the chain will include at least 15 three-star hotels for 200 rooms and suites. However, in the cities with a critical shortage of hotel space (e.g. Nizhniy Novgorod), larger objects up to 1000 rooms and suites can also be built.
The Whitbread PLC company was founded in 1742 and at present runs restaurant and hotel assets, the main brands being Costa Coffee, Beefeater and Premier Inn. The Premier Inn hotel chain incorporates more than 500 hotels for 35 000 rooms and suites. The creation of a hotel chain will be the first experience of Whitbread in the Russian hotel market.
