Jury members of European award 2006 ranked the capital of Russia first in nomination "European city of the future". Last year it was the city of Birmingham to deserve this position, but this time Moscow has beaten London, Berlin, Istanbul, Hamburg and Bratislava. Deputy of the Moscow Mayor Yuri Roslyak took the award personally in Munich. However, the Mayor of the city Yuri Luzhkhov has also spoken out on the fact of getting the award: he marks that Moscow is now at one level with European countries in real estate development and added that there appear a 3-star hotel in the capital every fortnight.
In 2005 foreign investments in Moscow amounted to 25 billion dollars which made the city's budget bigger than the budget of the whole Ukraine.
