At the last meeting of the Roscultura board the director of the State Reserve Museum “Moscow Kremlin” Elena Gagarina reported that in 2010 the Kremlin Museums would gain new buildings in Manezhnaya and Volkhonka streets. It will be a multifunction culture-restoration complex, the creation of which will take three stages. Today the first stage is completed: the reconstruction of the Gedeonovo in Manezhnaya street manor is realized. According to Elena Gagarina, at the second stage it is planned to build a depositary-restoration complex in Manezhnaya street. The creation of an exhibition center in Volkhonka street will present the last stage of the project and its investment constituent. As the Reserve Museum director told, the restoration shops and the museum stocks will move from the Kremlin to the new depositary-restoration complex, and it will be possible to use the vacant and restored spaces for different exhibitions. The exhibition center in Volkhonka street will be able to receive the Kremlin Museum collections which were in the museum stock before, in particular the Russian martial standards of the 16th-19th centuries exposition, the Old Russian Painting exposition and the palace interior articles exposition. According to Elena Gagarina, the most important result of this project will be to take out the museum stocks, technical services and restoration shops out of the Kremlin territory and therefore to release the monuments from unsuitable functions.
