From August 14 till September 30 the «Recusant Artists in the Red Square. Painting and graphics of the1950-2000s from private collections» exhibition will take place at the State Historical Museum in Moscow. Works of 21 nonconformist artists present different schools of modern art from conceptualism to abstractionism. These painters, now considered as classics of the «second wave» of the Russian avant-garde of the 20th century, we can mention among them Ely Bielutin, Ernst Neizvestny, Nikolai Vechtomov, Vladislav Zubarev, Dmitry Plavinsky and Edward Steinberg, have not been recognized by the official art for a long time. At present, on the contrary, their works can be found in the most reputed collections in the whole world, critics praise them and world-famous Russian and foreign museums and galleries would be pleased to organize personal exhibitions of these masters. And the State Historical Museum located in the most reknowned square in Russia has been no exception. A private gallery has given all the works for this exhibition. The exposition harmonizes with the State Museum space. The directors of this museum have never avoided innovative tendencies and now must be thinking of the conception of the new exposition concerning the 20th century that should reflect the spirit of the time. Lectures, round-table discussions and meetings with artists are to be held during the exhibition. The Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow Hotel, the Akvarel Hotel, the Metropol Hotel and the Le Royal Meridien National Hotel are located just by the State Historical Museum.
