In the spring of the next year construction of the first hotel of its kind will be started in Kukuboy village located in Yaroslavskaya region. Kukuboy village is famous for sheltering the house of the well-known fabulous character – the witch Baba-Yaga. The hotel is to be opened just near the residence. The Pervomayskiy region administration is ready to allot a ground for the hotel building near a pinery. In common with the Baba-Yaga residence, the hotel will resemble a traditional Russian izba and will be erected of logs. The two-storied hotel will be able to accommodate about fifty guests at once; a restaurant will be opened in addition to the guest rooms. Baba-Yaga settled down in Kukuboy in 2004. She is considered to symbolize thrift, to keep ancient traditions and customs. Her birthday is celebrated on the last Saturday of June. Inhabitants of kukuboy are sure that their village, which is surrounded with dense forests, is the right place for such a personage. An actress of a local theater plays the role of Baba-Yaga now. Several tourist programs starring the heroine of Russian folk stories have already been worked up.
