This weekend the Russian Railway Company launched five new international routes from Moscow. Soon you will be able to depart from Moscow railway stations to Amsterdam, Basel, Munich, Paris and Thessaloniki. From December 11 every passenger will be able to go to the capital of France in a carriage hitched on to the train “Moscow-Berlin”. When the train arrives in Germany, the carriage will be hitched on to the German night train bounding for Paris. The train schedule provides for a long stop in Berlin (12 hours during the journey to Paris and 7 hours on the way back) during which travelers will be able to see the sights of the city. Travel companies have already started preparing sightseeing itineraries for transit passengers. In winter the carriage will run two times a week, and in summer it will run three times a week. On December 7 trains for Amsterdam and Munich will be launched, and on December 22 railway communication between Moscow and Basel (Switzerland) will start. All these trains will be made up of sleeping cars of the first and second classes offering double and triple compartments correspondingly. You will have to pay from 240 to 550 euros (a sum comparable to accommodation rate in some Moscow hotels) and spend two days on way to make your journey through Europe. These itineraries were created at the instance of passengers who prefer calm overland journeys to flights and are ready for high prices and low speed as compared with airplanes.
