Government of Sakhalin region and a Swiss company completed an arrangement priced at 50 million dollars, which implies construction of a new business-class hotel, 10-15 one- and two-storied chalets (VIP cottages), a leisure center on the top of the mountain and a spa center in the territory of the Gorniy Vozduh resort complex. The health-improving center will be located in the hotel building itself or in a separate house connected to it by a passage. An economy-class hotel may appear at the bottom of the mountainside, and a cafe in projected on its top. Construction of a gondola lift and a chairlift, installation of a snow cannon and development of itineraries and object for summer tourism will make the resort all-the-year-round and very popular with travelers and inhabitants.
The Gorniy Vozduh sports complex is situated three kilometers away from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on the southern and western side of Bolshevik mountain at a height from 100 to 600 meters above sea level. You can reach the city by a well-furnished motor road. The recreation center has been functioning for more than 40 years, but since the middle 1990s it has been almost abandoned, and it started to regenerate not long ago. Total extension of mountain ski trails of the complex is 11600 meters.
Besides the in the immediate future the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport will be constructed, and a health center will be created on the basis of thermal springs in Dagi.
