The biggest open-air skating rink in Europe has started functioning. This winter the ice arena of 2700 square metres is expected to become one of the favourite places in Moscow amongst the locals and foreign guests. The skating rink has warm changing rooms, cafe, and skates rent. According to the organizators ice skating will cost 500 roubles (18.5 USD) per 1.5 hours.
250 tons of special equipment have been used to preserve the surface of the Red Square from being damaged.
It's the first time Russia sees such a large-scale project. Some years ago a skating rink of 15Х30 metres was created on the Red Square. The present ice project is a lot bigger in width and length.
