The exhibition “Two Destinies. Rubens and Rembrandt” is devoted to the creative work of two great artists of the 17th century. The exhibit was taken from the funds of the Kirov Regional Art Museum and the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts. The exposition represents a collection of prints made by European artists. In the early modern times engravings were the only way for people to get acquainted with the masterpieces of Rubens and Rembrandt because the origins never left royal residences. About 40 sheets of printed and original graphics are exhibited. These are not only works of disciples and followers of two great masters but also works of artists of the 17th-19th centuries. A sketch made by Rembrandt to his painting “Widower’s Mite”, which is exhibited in the Louvre Museum, opens the collection. Guests of the exhibition will get acquainted with creative work of renowned Rubens’ disciples – Antonis Van Dyck, Kaspar de Krayer, Gerard Lareza. A significant part of the exhibition is destined for works of artists who cooperated with Rubens himself – Lukas Vorsterman, Paul Pontius, Adams Bolsvert. An interesting fact is that some works of Russian artists are also exhibited. That is, for example, a unique print “Holy Family” made by Shishkin. The exhibition confirms that the interest to the creative work of Rubens and Rembrandt is not fading away. Modern artists are still trying to reproduce the emotional and colorful integrity typical for the masterpieces of two great artists. Visitors of the exhibition can stay at the Yekaterinburg Tsentralny Hotel.
