Since October 11 till November 28 the exposition “Zinaida Serebryakova. Nudes” will take place in the Benois Wing of the State Russian Museum. Among several tens of works included in the exposition we can mention “Girl Bathing” of 1911, “Baths” of 1912 and 1913, sketches of pictures for the Kazan Railway Station and also eight works of art for Manoir du Relais, a villa of baron de Brouwer in Belgium. These masterpieces have never been exhibited in Russia before; they were painted in the late period of the artist’s creative work in 1936-1937. For many long years the series of pictures had been considered as lost, but afterward it was obtained out of condition, acquired by a private collector and restored in the Russian museum. Nude nymphs and allegorical figures are depicted on the canvases; their faces bear the features of the artist’s daughter Katherine. The State Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Peterhof Museum and Reserve, the Ulyanovsk Museum of Modern Fine Arts, the Kaluga Regional Art Museum, the Triumph Gallery in Moscow rendered works for the exhibition. You can stay at the Nevsky Aster Hotel. Zinaida Serebryakova is a representative of the ancient artistic family Benois-Lanceray, she is a niece of Alexander Benois, a famous artist, and a granddaughter of Nikolai Benois, a sculptor. Founders of the World of Art, and her uncle among them, used to gather in the house in St Petersburg where she lived in her childhood. After the revolution she emigrated in Paris.
