An ice complex consisting of a mini-hotel and a museum is planned to be created in Saint Petersburg. The idea is supposed to be incarnated by the «Ice Studio» company that can also boast the authorship of a renowned palace of Empress Anna Ioannovna on the Palace Square built 3 years ago. The ice hotel will dispose 10 guest rooms. For the guests’ stay to be comfortable they will be provided with sleeping-bags and fur beddings, as well as heating drinks – mulled vine, for instance. All these amenities are included into the accommodation rate. In the museum tourists will have the chance to get acquainted with the history of the ice sculpture development and see some interesting patterns of this unusual art. Nevertheless, ice hotels are far from being something outlandish in Europe. The first such hotel appeared in Sweden 20 years ago after a group of travelers having decided to stay overnight in an «iglu» - a hut made of ice blocks. Nowadays, there are approximately 30 ice hotels worldwide, with the most famous ones being Ishotellet in Northern Lapland (Sweden), Lumilinna in Finland and a hotel inside a glacier in Chile. Apart from the very hotel, ice complexes tend to comprise an exhibition of ice sculpture, an ice church or an ice bar. The Ice-Art-Museum in Saint Petersburg has one distinctive feature - it will be open 12 months a year, with the necessary thermal conditions being provided by the special equipment. On the contrary, nearly all foreign analogues are erected each winter afresh. The terms of the construction of the complex with the total area amounting to 1000 sq.m have not been defined yet – it is supposed to be opened by stages. Apart from St Petersburg, there are also other options of the hotel's location – for example, Moscow, Riga or a town in Finland.
