Moscow mayer Yuriy Luzhkov announced that the «Leningradskaya» Hotel on the Komsomolskaya square will change its name and status – it will become a four-star Hilton hotel. Last Saturday the mayor, together with a group of Moscow heads, had a «tour» of the restored hotel.
The restoration work lasted for about 1,5 years and finally will be opened for guests this May. The 28-storey hotel building has undergone some changes in the structure of the guest room fund – instead of 330 rooms and suites there are only 275 left now, although the area of each single room has considerably increased – from 18 to 33 metres, and so did the comfort level of the rooms. The cost of the rooms will amount to $249-622 per night. The infrastructure of the hotel has also been diversified, with the appearance of a restaurant, business area, a swimming pool, fitness and spa centres, as well as a new ventilation system and elevators. Nevertheless, the restorers managed to preserve and fit into the interior the unique things with more than 50-year’ history - decorative ceilings, chandeliers with 20-metre bronze garlands, high floor lamps and the bronze statues of leopards at the foot of the stairs. Thus, authentic architectural values were both preserved and attached with new, contemporary hues.
«Hilton-Leningradskaya» will become the first hotel in Russia to work under the world-wide famous brand Hilton. As far as the quality and level of the services are concerned, it will be totally in keeping with its American «colleagues» - the Hilton hotels in New York, Chicago and New Orleans.
