Today the first stone will be laid in the foundation of the Russia Tower, which will be one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. Its height is projected to amount to 612 meters. This building will be a part of the Moscow City International Business Center and its largest construction. It will accommodate office facilities, trade spaces, fitness centers, an underground parking for 2100 cars and a five-star hotel. Design of the building will allow constructing elite many-storied apartments. Seven upper stories will be allocated for a viewing point. Three underground stories will house a big atrium with trade areas connected with central buildings of the Moscow City by means of a pedestrian subway. The building will also have a direct exit to Mezhdunarodnaya metro station and an egress to the Third Ring Road.
The project of the tower was prepared by Norman Foster’s architectural bureau; its total area will amount to more than 470 square meters. The building will be in the form of a three-edged pyramid that will stabilize it. The construction is extremely simplified; no supporting columns are provided on floors, the entire load lies on fan bearings on sides of every wing. The construction is to be completed by 2012.
