The company Comstar – United Telesystems will launch a Wi-Fi network in Moscow metro. If the company contributes $300 thousand on the first stage of the project's realization, it will have $200 thousand of profit annually. Analytics say the project of Comstar meets all international tendencies: Wi-Fi networks are now being set up in many European metro systems. Besides, the company is also planning to set up Wi-Fi in St. Petersburg metro.
Now there are 21 Wi-Fi points in Moscow metro; they are available on such metro stations as Okhotny Ryad, Teatralnaya, and Ploschad Revolutsyi, and work only in station halls and underground passages while in tunnels the signal is not available.
The connection speed of the future Wi-Fi network is going to be not less than 128kb/second, which around 5 times faster than the connection speed of the current GPRS technologies with access through mobile networks GSM. http://www.russia-ic.com/news/category/1/
