Paganini International Violin Competition in Moscow has brought together young musicians from the most famous schools of the world to strive for the Grand Prix, a statuette of Paganini with a violin.
The musical rivalry started yesterday in the Moscow Conservatoire. The lot drawing held at the Rakhmaninov Hall of the Conservatoire defined the order of performing; the most unwanted numbers, 1 and 13 fell to the share of Russian musicians.
The international jury with Sergei Stadler at the head will have to choose 6 finalists out of 50 contenders.
