Maya Plisetskaya conferred on with the Japanese Emperor's Premium, the highest prize in arts, called it "our mutual love, of me and Japan".
"Premium Imperiale" is considered similar to the Nobel Prize in the cultural field; it is rewarded "for outstanding contribution into development and spreading of arts" and includes monetary premium to the amount of 15 million yen (equal to 126 thousand dollars).
