This winter, when hotels in Saint Petersburg are underloaded, a special program under the name “White Days” will be launched in the city to attract tourists. This program has been working for the last five years. Special offers for the low period (form November till March) are elaborated at nine hotels: the Angleterre Hotel, the Astoria Hotel, the Grand Hotel Europe, the Eliseev Palace Hotel, the Kempinski Hotel Moika 22, the Corinthia Nevskij Palace Hotel, the Park Inn Pulkovskaya Hotel, the Renaissance Baltic Hotel and the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel. Everybody usually tries to visit St Petersburg at the time of white nights. This is a really special occasion to see a unique phenomenon of nature and to enjoy an enchanting sight – palaces and bridges are perfused with dim light. Thousands of guests and inhabitants of the northern capital pour out into the streets at the time. But authorities and businessmen of St Petersburg are convinced that the city can offer something to travelers even in winter. The White Days Program renews the tradition of splendid winter receptions that were famous before the revolution and includes different events. Among them we can mention special programs of the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the Mariinsky Theater (the Pancake week in Mariinsky, the Mariinsky International Ballet Festival), the St Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, musical festivals, exhibitions, carnivals, masquerades in the Ekaterininsky, Marble, Peterhof, Sheremetyevsky, Yusupovsky palaces. But for all that the winter tour saturated with cultural offers will cost less than in summer.
