At the international festival “Zodchestvo-2007” the chief architect of Moscow made a sensational declaration – in the near future the Rizhsky Railway Station in the capital of Russia will be closed. It was opened September 11, 1901. During last years this railway station has been working ineffectively and has been receiving only one train of international destination a day. If this train is redirected at any other Moscow railway station, for example at the Leningradsky railway station, in the future the building of the Rizhsky Railway Station may be closed for traffic and redesigned. One option of future destination of the construction is a railway museum. The issue of creation of this museum still remains far from definitive decision though. Meanwhile the appearance of the building, which is an architectural monument, may be preserved. The front of the railway station is designed in the pseudo-Russian style and represents three towers united with passages. By the present time the Rizhsky goods station is decided to go under reconstruction. Several building will be demolished at this railway complex, and railway lines will be put underground. A stadium and a sports complex will be placed above the track. A hotel, a trade center, a business center and elite apartment houses will be built here. The territory will be improved, and a park will appear at this area.
